VerHage Artisan Builders is owned and operated by Zachary and Shelby VerHage. Proud lifelong residents of southwest Michigan, they live in Paw Paw with their daughter Adah.

Shelby graduated from Grand Valley State University with a doctorate in physical therapy. She works as a physical therapist in tele-therapy.

Zachary graduated from Western Michigan University with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication and leadership. He is the owner of Firm Foundation Concrete and the Project Manager and Lead Contractor of VerHage Artisan Builders.

The VerHage family loves God and people. They have a passion for family and community, building homes to be a sanctuary and gathering place.

My Journey

My name is Zach VerHage. I have a passion for people and projects. After graduating from Plainwell High School in 2011 I began to work for my Dad, learning to finish concrete, while going to college. 

After college I spent 2 years as project manager for new residential construction before starting Firm Foundation Concrete in 2019.

Residential construction is where God has placed me. I enjoy large problems with moving parts. 

Building a home can be intimidating. But with active communication and problem solving, it doesn’t have to be scary. And with the right help, anyone can do it.
